Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Films in Essex County, Seeks Local Extras

by Staff

Fans of Adam Sandler and aspiring actors in Essex County now have a unique opportunity to appear in Happy Gilmore 2, the highly anticipated sequel to the 1996 comedy classic. Sandler has been filming scenes across New Jersey in recent weeks, and casting agents are seeking local extras to portray golf spectators in scenes set to be shot this week in West Orange.

According to a casting notice on Backdoor, the roles are open to residents from West Orange, Livingston, Montclair, Roseland, and other nearby towns. No acting experience is required, and the roles, which are non-SAG-AFTRA covered, pay $176 for an estimated 10 hours of work.

Filming is scheduled to take place from September to November in counties across Northern New Jersey, including Bergen, Monmouth, Morris, and Somerset. The shoot in Essex County this week is an exterior daytime scene, and casting agents are looking for a variety of people to portray spectators during a golf tournament.

Sandler, who plays the title character, has been spotted at several local businesses, including Faubourg in Montclair and Goldberg’s World Famous Deli & Bagels in Millburn, as filming continues. Residents in Irvington also noted filming in their area, with scenes being shot in Irvington Park and surrounding streets.

Happy Gilmore 2 follows Sandler’s character, a former hockey player turned golf pro, as he returns to the sport. The original Happy Gilmore was a box office hit, helping launch Sandler’s career in the mid-1990s. The sequel has stirred excitement among fans, with Sandler teasing the project on social media, saying, “The way I see it… we’ve only just begun.”
