5 Earth Day Events In Hudson County

Happy Earth Day! We hope you’ll celebrate today by visiting a local park, taking your kids to see that adorable documentary Bears, or by picking up a piece of trash on the sidewalk. If you’re feeling extra green, there are a plenty of Earth Day events going on today and this weekend in Hudson County.

Green Dream International Children’s Earth Day Exhibition

Tuesday, April 22, from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Hundreds of pieces of artwork from around the world, created by children ages 3-12, will be on display at The Distillery Gallery & Artspace at 77 Hutton St. in Jersey City. Guests will be treated to food, wine and a musical performance by The Sensational Country Blues Wonders.

Project: Earth

Saturday, April 26, from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
City Hall at 280 Grove St. in Jersey City will be the home of Project: Earth. The wonderful folks at the Jersey City Project, who also organize Project: Market, will bring local businesses, eateries, and nonprofits together to celebrate Earth Day. Smith and Chang, IncrediBalls Food Truck, ReUse Jersey City and over 45 other vendors will be there, and almost 100 people have RSVP’d on Facebook so far. The event is also animal-friendly. See Spot Rescued and Jersey Cats will both bring adoptable pets, and Nesbits Dog Treats will sell healthy treats and dog accessories.

Earth Day 5K Run, Walk and Fair

Saturday, April 26, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The Earth Day race, followed by a fair, will be held at Liberty State Park in Jersey City. Run or walk in the 5K while taking in the view of the New York skyline. From 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. let your kids run wild in the Kid’s Kingdom area, which will have environment-theme displays, tree seedlings (thanks to NJDEP), inflatable rides, kite-flying, and arts and crafts. There will also be a variety of live kid-friendly entertainment shows and the chance to take a nature walk through Liberty State Park. With all these events packed into one day, Earth Day will become your child’s new favorite holiday.

Help Hoboken “Green Up” For Earth Day

Saturday, April 26, from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Put on your “get dirty” clothes, grab a shovel and a pair of gloves, and join the Hoboken Volunteers at Hoboken’s Community Garden on the corner of 3rd and Jackson this weekend to help clean up the area. The goal is to tidy up the garden and remove debris to encourage residents and tourists to visit.

Celebrate Mother Earth
Sunday, April 27, from noon to 8 p.m.
How often do your children get to pet and feed goats? Visit Harsimus Cemetery and Memorial Park in Historic Jersey City for the chance to meet goats, listen to live music, and take a nature or history tour. The event is free, but donations are appreciated.
