Starting February 22nd, Have a Night JC and ChicpeaJC will start the search to find the city’s top mixologist. Over the course of a four-week head to head battle, cocktail-makers will be stirring up some stiff competition to win the ultimate prize — $2,000 cash and the title of mixologist MVP. The kicker? Each round will contain a different mystery ingredient that must be incorporated. The cocktail competition kicks off this Thursday at Porta free of charge but you must lock in your RSVP ASAP. Stay tuned as we break down the rules and introduce the city’s fiercest contestants.
Round 1
There will be five minutes on the clock and when the countdown begins, each mixologist will have to make three servings of the same cocktail, one for each judge. Your judges being local Jersey City personalities. Once times up, they’ll present and explain their drinks while the judges calculate their score. Scoring is based on a 1-10 scale that factors in taste, presentation and creativity.
Round 2
Here’s where they’re shaking things up a bit (pun intended). The judges will be introducing an altogether different mystery ingredient from Round 1 and again, the mixologists will have five minutes to come up with a signature drink that showcases taste, presentation and most of all, creativity.
The single mixologist with the highest combined scores from both rounds will automatically move onto the finals, to be held March 15th at Hudson Hall. Here’s what you can expect from the lineup:
