Don’t Abandon the Ship #ShopHudson

Don’t Abandon the Ship

We have all heard the phrases “buy local” or “support small business”. This idea started as a trend has now been a nationally recognized epidemic. You get a different feeling after buying a new scarf from the vintage shop down the block instead of visiting the mall and getting the same scarf that three women at work already bought- last season!

That feel-good feeling isn’t the only thing positive about shopping locally. Time Magazine reports “A number of researchers and organizations are taking a closer look at how money flows, and what they’re finding shows the profound economic impact of keeping money in town—and how the fate of many communities around the nation and the world increasingly depend on it.”

We decided it was time to bring local shopping to Hoboken, New Jersey! Our campaign, socially is called #ShopHudson but we refer to it as “Don’t Abandon the Ship”. This idea was brought about after hurricane Sandy took out most of Hoboken and left the city unusable for over two weeks. Many homes and businesses felt the direct impact from Sandy and are still recovering to this day. It is important that local communities grow and strive, after a devastating natural disaster the importance increases. As a local media source in Hudson County we feel it is our duty to help increase local shopping and to remind people living and visiting the area that local shops are what keeps the town going.

Every time you make a purchase post a picture or share about your experience and remember to hash tag #ShopHudson so you too can remind others to shop local!!
