Tonight, New York City is ushering in the holiday season with one of the most anticipated events of the year: The Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree Lighting. Today will be the 85th year of the spectacular tree lighting and this year’s party line up includes: Jennifer Nettles, Auli’i Cravalho, Gwen Stefani, Seal, The Tenors, Pentatonix, Brett Eldredge, Leslie Odom Jr., Train and Harry Connick Jr. There will also be various rooftop appearances and many of the stars will perform live on the Plaza.

The Rockefeller tree will be wrapped in five miles of 50,000 multicolored lights and topped with a 9.5-foot Swarovski star with 25,000 shining crystals. The tree will be lit daily from 5:30 a.m. – 11:30 p.m., and until 9:00 p.m. on January 7th. Once the tree comes down, it will be donated to Habitat for Humanity where it will help build homes for those in need.

Luckily, we can anticipate clear skies and mild temperatures of 40 degrees tonight to enjoy the ceremony. It is advised to take public transportation as street closures between Fifth and Sixth Avenues and 48th to 51st streets will begin at 3 p.m. Don’t worry if you can’t make it, NBC will be broadcasting the special Christmas in Rockefeller Center live at 7 p.m. Eastern time.

We can’t wait for the festivities tonight, see you there!
