Feast on Mozzarella at the Second Annual Hoboken Mutzfest

There are few things more delicious than fresh, homemade mozzarella cheese, moist and soft in texture, mild but by no means bland in flavor. Some basil, a drizzle of olive oil, and you’re in heaven. Like all delicious creations, making mozzarella is a labor of love, so this Sunday, January 26, take the opportunity to recognize the Hoboken delis that work so hard to give us gastronomic satisfaction at The Second Annual Hoboken Mutzfest.

From 2-6 p.m. at the Elk’s Lodge, six local delis (M&P Biancamano, Fran’s Deli, Gigi’s Rosticeria, Littletown NJ, Losurdo Bros. Deli, and Vito’s Deli) will compete for the bragging rights of having the best mozzarella in Hoboken. Tickets are sold out online, but you can still get them at the participating delis. Attendees get a voting chip to vote on their very favorite mozzarella for the People’s Choice Award, and a panel of celebrity judges will decide for themselves who is the very best. Last year’s defending champ is M&P Biancamano for both awards.

Other than relishing the delights of a variety of mozzarella cheeses, there will also be live entertainment, a cannoli eating contest, and Frank Sinatra Karaoke. Tickets are $20, and kids 12 and under get in free. Check out mutzfest.com for more details.
