Everyone loves eating a good taco and it’s no different in the Mile Square City. Mexican restaurants have been quite the hit here in New Jersey, and the beloved regional Mexican restaurant chain, Tacoria, has officially made its debut in the heart of Hoboken. The restaurant opened on December 30, 2021 and stands on Washington St. where the Italian restaurant, Frankie + Ava’s, once stood. With a menu full of different popular Mexican dishes, there is something for everyone to enjoy.

What We Know

Tacoria has recently expanded with many locations placed in different cities across New Jersey. Other than Hoboken, you can enjoy what Tacoria has to offer in Jersey City, Paramus, New Brunswick, Morristown, Montclair and Princeton. Tacoria came to be with a group of friends who collaborated over their love of Mexican food. The Tacoria website shared, “We’re just a couple of friends from Rutgers who really love Mexican food, and we wanted to share our love with others back home.”

However, it wasn’t a simple process. The group of friends took matters into their own hands by flying over to Mexico. The friends wanted to get a better idea of how to create more authentic dishes to celebrate Mexico’s culture. They spent months in their own kitchen “blending, mixing, experimenting and tasting”  until they finally came up with their own unique flavor.

A Taste of Mexico

One of Tacoria’s featured dishes is the handcrafted tacos. Salsa, onions, cilantro, cheese, crema and a choice of protein are packed in freshly made corn tortillas. Other menu items include the “Viva La Nachos,” “Mission Style Burrito,” “Burrito Box” and “Quesadilla Suiza” plates. As with the handcrafted tacos, customers have the option to choose their very own protein. Featured options are chicken, chorizo, steak, and Brussels sprouts, to name a few.

Tacoria also offers special food alternatives with its vegan and gluten-free options. A featured dish is the “En-salad-a” which is a mix of vegetables, beans, pico de gallo, and a house pineapple lime dressing.  Tacoria classics are available for people from all different eating lifestyles to enjoy. Also, kids get the chance to enjoy these foods, but at a much smaller proportion.

Of course, no meal is complete without some dessert! I recommend you enjoy Tacoria’s “Nutella Nachos.” This menu item is a twist on the famous nachos dish. Crispy flour tortillas are mixed with cinnamon and sugar to create a delectable Mexican treat to end your tasty meal.

The new Tacoria location is located at 208 Washington Ave., Hoboken, NJ 07030. It is open every day from Monday to Sunday at 4 p.m. and closes at 9 p.m.
