It’s easy to get swept up in a true-crime show. There’s mystery and drama. Gore and heartbreak. Usually, there’s a sense of relief as well. A strange type of reassurance that it’s not you (or someone you know) at the center of it all. However, a new docuseries “Murder Nation: Jersey Gore” is making it harder for NJ viewers to distance themselves from the screen.
HLN’s “Murder Nation” recently debuted its second installment on October 10, 2021. The show itself is an investigative-style docu-series that highlights deadly crimes unique to one specific U.S. region at a time. In season one, “Murder Nation” put a spotlight on murders that ravaged Louisiana’s bayous.
About “Murder Nation: Jersey Gore”
Season 2, entitled “Murder Nation: Jersey Gore,” reexamines four homicides that took place in the Garden State. Specifically, the docuseries is covering deadly crimes that all happened along the South Jersey coastline. Think Atlantic City and Cherry Hill, to name a few. The juxtaposition here is that while it may appear as a friendly, idyllic area for summer vacationers, there’s actually darkness lurking just around the corner.
Without giving too much away, the first episode chronicles the mysterious disappearance of a May’s Landing retiree who vanishes after leaving his wife for a younger woman. The second centers around the suburbs of Cherry Hill after a beloved rabbi’s wife is found dead.
