A fire broke out early Wednesday at the Westmont Diner, forcing the restaurant to close while they assess the damage and carry out repairs.

Fire crews responded to the diner on the 500 block of West Cuthbert Boulevard around 1:30 a.m. Flames damaged equipment on the roof, but no injuries were reported.

The diner announced on social media that it will remain closed while the extent of the damage is assessed. Photos showed firefighters on the roof and visible damage to the kitchen area.

A notice posted on the door cited the kitchen as the reason for the shutdown. Owners thanked the public for their support and said staff members were safe.

An estimated reopening date has not been announced.
