For parents, finding work that allows them to balance professional responsibilities with family life is essential. Three New Jersey companies have earned spots on Fortune’s 2025 Best Workplaces for Parents list, which highlights employers prioritizing work-life balance.
The New Jersey honorees include two biotech and pharmaceutical firms and a financial services and insurance company:
- Insmed – Bridgewater, NJ
- Merck – Rahway, NJ
- Crum & Forster – Morristown, NJ
Parents reportedly spend a significant portion of their household income on childcare and numerous mothers are leaving the workforce due to limited support. Companies that address these challenges stand out as ideal destinations for parents or those who plan to eventually have kids.
Fortune’s ranking is based on a detailed survey conducted by Great Place to Work, collecting confidential feedback from employees with parenting responsibilities. The survey examines workplace culture, leadership, fairness, trust and employee well-being. It also evaluates company policies related to parenting including parental leave, adoption support, childcare, dependent healthcare and flexibility.
In 2025, responses from more than 600,000 U.S. employees informed the rankings. Parents at these top workplaces reported higher levels of flexibility, support and encouragement to maintain work-life balance than peers at typical companies.
A healthy work environment benefits both employees and employers. Survey results show that employees at these companies are more likely to go above and beyond at work, contributing to overall productivity and innovation.
Alongside New Jersey firms, 11 New York City-based companies made the list including American Express, Deloitte, PwC, EY and KPMG.
For current and future parents, these rankings provide insight into companies that support both career and family. Check out the full list of Fortune’s Best Workplaces for Parents here.
