A massive shopping center is coming to Somerset County. Montgomery Promenade will feature a Whole Foods Market and dozens of retailers and restaurants, right on Route 206.
The first phase covers 165,000 square feet and is fully leased. Stores are expected to open during the summer, with the full center unveiled by fall.
Montgomery Promenade mixes fast-casual and sit-down dining with salons, fitness studios, and medical offices. The goal is to develop a one-stop destination where residents can shop, dine, work out, and handle errands in a single trip.
Whole Foods, nearing completion, is expected to be the first store to open. Other confirmed businesses include Panera, Shake Shack, Buffalo Wild Wings Go, Ulta, Robinson’s Ale House, Iron Whale, European Wax Center, Toastique, Hallmark, and more.
The Somerset County shopping center spans 292,700 square feet on a 54-acre site that sat undeveloped for more than 15 years, according to the Montgomery Promenade website. The center will feature outdoor dining patios, green spaces, walking paths, and first-to-market restaurants. Public input shaped a modern design using glass, wood, and stone, creating a fresh complement to existing development.
Infrastructure upgrades will improve traffic patterns and sewer systems while promoting walkability. The project is being developed by SJC Ventures, an Atlanta-based firm experienced in mixed-use communities across the eastern United States. The company’s mission is to transform underused sites into bustling, community-focused destinations.
Montgomery Promenade is designed to be more than another shopping center. It aims to create a hub where errands, food, fitness, and more exist in a single destination.
