Sasso’s Deli in the Digest Lunchbox

Sasso's Deli A long-standing favorite, Sasso’s Deli in Hoboken has been around since the 1920s. Serving up fresh mozz, roast beef which is made in-house, and freshly sliced sandwiches using only Boar’s Head cold cuts, what more could you ask for from an Italian deli? Besides the fact that the space doubles as a liquor store. Owner Michael Cipolla, who brings his own Brooklyn style to North Jersey, ensured us that everything is made fresh daily and what they can’t get locally, they source from either Brooklyn or sometimes even Italy. They make everything from homemade meatballs to sausage and peppers, which are all cooked in their brick oven, and even serve up dessert like their famous Sasso’s brownies, a recipe passed down to Cipolla by previous owners. They are also known for their vegetarian options, recreating classic dishes such as eggplant parm, pasta with pesto, and penne vodka.

Sasso's DeliFor the Digest Lunch Box, we tried their classic combo, sandwiches with either turkey or ham, both topped with provolone cheese, lettuce, tomato, mayo, oil and vinegar. We also tried their house salad which had lettuce, tomatoes, and red onion.

Another successful Digest Lunch Box, until next time!
