What is the IB Diploma Program?

The IB Diploma Program is a comprehensive, two-year curriculum that prepares students for college and beyond. The program emphasizes critical thinking, research skills, and intercultural understanding.

Students take courses in 6 main subject areas. In addition, students must complete a course on the theory of knowledge, an extended essay, and a creativity, activity, and service (CAS) project. Many students need help with extended essay quite often.

One of the benefits of pursuing an IB diploma is that it prepares students for college-level work.

Why Choose a School with a Strong IB Program?

While the IB Diploma Program is available at many schools, not all programs are created equal.

Choosing a school with a strong IB program can make a significant difference in a student’s academic experience and future prospects. A strong IB program typically offers the following:

  • Rigorous academics. It challenges students to think critically, communicate effectively, and collaborate with others.
  • High-quality teaching. A strong IB program will have well-trained and experienced teachers committed to the IB philosophy and pedagogy. These teachers will provide students with the support and guidance they need to succeed in the program.
  • Strong support systems. It will have a robust support system in place to help students navigate the challenges of the program. This may include counseling services, study groups, and tutoring.

Choosing a strong IB program school can also improve a student’s college admission prospects and career opportunities. College admissions officers often evaluate students who have completed an IB program favorably.
