The Best Lipsticks for Fall

by Caroline Burns

Now that autumn is in full swing, not only do you want to change your wardrobe but your beauty products as well. What fun and better way to do so than by experimenting with fall lip colors? Lipsticks happen to be my favorite of all beauty products since you can change up the shade at any given time of the year and have a different look, no matter that the season is.  Below are two hot looks this fall that I happen to be wearing and loving, as well as the local Hoboken shops where you can purchase the right products.

The Nude Lip: To pull this look off without looking washed out, do the following: Line your lips with a matching lip liner or lip primer, as this is essential to your lip shape. Try to stick with a nude shade that has a slight pop of color (peach, brown, pink). The product should have a creamy finish, but if it doesn’t, you can use a matching gloss to give a nice sheen.

The Berry Lip: This color has become a huge trend this year, as seen on the catwalk during Mercedes Benz Fashion Week.  You can wear this look day or night with either a winged cat eye, or a rose gold eye with brown liner.

These are great for anyone with hypoallergenic skin.

  • Some store favorites for the season are Ilia Beauty Hydrating Lipsticks, retailing for $26.  They come in an array of fall colors, which include Blossom Lady, Nobody’s Baby, Linger and Arabian Knights.  These nourishing products are 85% organic and made with avocado oils and shea butter.
  • If you don’t want a stick and want something more polished, check out Armour’s lip glosses in Shattered and After Hours, retailing for $21.
