Blu On the Hudson is an exceptional Hudson County restaurant nestled in the heart of Weehawken, NJ. Sporting views of the Manhattan skyline glistening in the reflection of the Hudson River, Blu On the Hudson aims to bring guests fine dining presented in a remarkable setting. During a recent visit, my wife and I had the pleasure of indulging in many of their delectable offerings, and we were thoroughly impressed with the quality of the food and the overall dining experience.
One of the highlights of our meal was the Seafood Tower. This delightful creation consisted of a seasonal selection of chilled shellfish—including succulent shrimp, plump oysters, and mouthwatering clams. Each piece of shellfish was fresh and perfectly chilled, providing a refreshing burst of flavor with every bite. The star of the tower was undoubtedly the chilled Maine lobster, which was cooked to perfection and had a sweet, melt-in-your-mouth meat.
We also had the pleasure of trying the Weehawken Roll, a mesmerizing sushi roll that featured a combination of spicy hamachi, Hokkaido scallops, and Ichimi potato crunch. The roll was expertly crafted and bursting with flavor. The spicy hamachi provided a delightful kick, while the Hokkaido scallops added a delicate sweetness to the dish. The Ichimi potato crunch brought along a unique texture and elevated the roll to new heights. It was a true delight in flavor, texture and presentation.
Another standout dish was the Buratta di Bufala, a creamy and indulgent Italian cheese made from imported water buffalo milk. The burrata was fresh and had a luscious, buttery texture. Served with a selection of ripe tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of high-quality olive oil, it was a simple yet incredibly satisfying appetizer that showcased the beauty of fresh, high-quality ingredients. Sometimes, all you need is a few ingredients and this dish proved that sentiment to be undeniably true.
For our main course, we decided to go all out and ordered the Westholme Wagyu Tomahawk. This magnificent piece of meat was cooked to perfection, with a beautifully seared exterior and a tender, juicy interior. Being a ribeye, there was plenty of great marbling and the fat from the Wagyu provided an unparalleled richness and depth of flavor that left us speechless. It was a true indulgence and a dish that we will remember for a long time.
To accompany our meal, we selected a bottle of the 1999 Terre Rouge Syrah, and it proved to be an excellent choice. The wine was mature and well-balanced, with rich aromas of dark fruits and a velvety smoothness on the palate. It complemented the flavors of the seafood and steak impeccably—enhancing the dining experience as a whole.
In addition to the outstanding food, the service at Blu On the Hudson was exemplary. From strt to finish, the staff was attentive, knowledgeable, and passionate about the menu, offering helpful recommendations and ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of extraordinary.
Overall, our visit to Blu On the Hudson was a culinary adventure that far exceeded our expectations. From the Seafood Tower to the unforgettable Westholme Wagyu Tomahawk, every dish showcased the restaurant’s commitment to quality and innovation. The Buratta di Bufala was a delightful surprise, and the 1999 Terre Rouge Syrah was the perfect accompaniment to our meal. Combined with the impeccable service, Blu On the Hudson is undoubtedly a top-notch dining destination that I wholeheartedly recommend to anyone seeking a memorable and indulgent culinary experience.
