Boardwalk Fresh Burger & Fries in the Digest Lunchbox
No matter where you live, everyone enjoys the relaxed vibe at the boardwalk because of the calming beach, exciting games, and fast food. In the summer of 1980, brothers Dave and Fran DiFerdinando were inspired by the boardwalk food in Ocean City, Maryland. While they always vacationed there during the summer season, they wanted to make their favorite boardwalk fast foods available to everyone and everywhere by creating the Boardwalk Burger franchise. The Hoboken location at 832 Washington Street opened in May 2014 to pair fresh burgers and awarding-winning fries with a vacation frame of mind.
Avocado Bacon Burger
Boardwalk sent us a variety of their specialty burgers for our Digest Lunchbox. The first option was the Boardwalk Classic Burger, a fresh meat patty topped with lettuce, tomatoes, American cheese, and their unique Boardwalk sauce. We were also treated to their BBQ Bacon Cheddar Burger with lettuce, tomatoes, cheddar, bacon, and barbeque sauce. The Avocado Bacon Burger was an office favorite, including lettuce, tomatoes, avocado, bacon, and grilled onions. For a local twist, Boardwalk offers their unique Sinatra Burger, made special with fresh basil, mozzarella, and marinara from Vito’s Deli. As the lone vegetarian in the office, I appreciated that Boardwalk also gave us the Veggie Burger from their menu, stacked with a black bean burger, lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and chipotle sauce on a whole wheat bun.
Disco Fries
In case you prefer hot dogs over burgers, Boardwalk is also known for their choice of all-beef hot dogs and the option of adding chili, cheese, or both! We also got a chance to try a few of their cheesesteaks. Aside from their traditional Philly Cheesesteak, The Digest enjoyed the Hoboken Heater Cheesesteak, loaded with pepper jack cheese, grilled onions, chipotle sauce, and jalapenos. Our office indulged in the selection of award-winning french fries that Boardwalk offered, such as their regular Boardwalk Fries, Disco Fries, Bacon Cheddar Fries, and Chili Cheese Fries.
Boardwalk takes pride in knowing that all of their food is made fresh daily, rather than frozen like most burger places. They serve plenty of options for whatever you’re in the mood to eat. Thank you Boardwalk Burger for filling our Digest Lunchbox, and we’ll be back for more burgers soon!
