New Jerseyans love themselves some good mutz — especially here in Hoboken where we consider ourselves the unofficial mozzarella capital of the Northeast. Since it’s so readily available, the question becomes not where can we get it, but whose is the best?

Instead of stirring up some stiff competition, the 6th Annual Hoboken Mutzfest is back to celebrate the local masters of the cheese-making craft. The event will take place on Sunday, January 28th at the Elks Club from 2 p .m. – 6 p.m.

Featuring a cannoli eating contest, Frank Sinatra sing-a-long and mounds of fresh-made mozzarella — you’ll want to come with an empty stomach and, yeah, that’s pretty much it. There are VIP tickets currently available to those 21 and older, granting you early entry, open bar and access to the VIP food station. General admission tickets go on sale January 11th, and can be purchased here.

The businesses participating in this years Hoboken Mutzfest are some of the same cast of characters including Tony Boloney’s, Vito’s Italian Deli, M&P Biancamano, Margherita’s Pizza & Cafe and Frankie & Ava’s.

All of the proceeds from the event will go towards benefitting the Hoboken Family Alliance. Founded in 2000, the HFA is a volunteer-driven organization that helps Hoboken families connect with each other through activities and numerous initiatives held throughout the year. Their efforts have improved the Hoboken community through educational opportunities, philanthropy and child resources.
