On Tuesday, April 14th, 2026, some of the most celebrated culinary talents from across New York and New Jersey, will gather at Addison Park in Aberdeen, N.J., for an unforgettable evening of food, philanthropy, and community. The 4th Annual Chefs Who Care event, hosted by The Ashley Lauren Foundation, promises curated tastings from more than 40 top chefs, premium wines and cocktails, live entertainment, and a headline-worthy auction led by renowned auctioneer Patrick Tully.

Running from 5:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., the event has quickly become one of New Jersey’s premier charitable culinary showcases—where fine dining meets a powerful mission.

A Celebration of Culinary Excellence

This year’s culinary honoree is Ariane Daguin, Founder of D’Artagnan.. Daguin has long been recognized as a trailblazer in humane farming and sustainable sourcing, helping reshape the way chefs and consumers think about meat production in America. Her advocacy and commitment to quality have influenced generations of culinary professionals.

The Ashley Lauren Foundation is recognizing the generous support of D’Artagnan and its parent company, Fortune Fish & Gourmet—an industry leader known for its meticulous sourcing and distribution of premium seafood and gourmet foods. Their partnership has been instrumental in bringing Chefs Who Care to life.

Guests can expect an elevated tasting experience showcasing innovative dishes and seasonal ingredients, paired with exceptional wines and craft cocktails. The live auction, helmed by celebrated auctioneer Patrick Tully, will feature exclusive packages and experiences, further fueling the Foundation’s mission.

A Mission Born from Personal Experience

At the heart of the evening is a deep personal story.

The Ashley Lauren Foundation was founded in 2005 by Monica Vermeulen after her daughter, Ashley Lauren, was diagnosed with cancer at just three years old. What began as one family’s journey through unimaginable hardship has evolved into a lifeline for countless families across New Jersey.

“I founded the organization in 2005 based on my own experience when my daughter, Ashley Lauren, was diagnosed with cancer at the age of three,” shared Founder and CEO Monica Vermeulen.

For more than 20 years, the Foundation has provided direct financial, emotional, and material assistance to children battling cancer and their families. Programs include:

  • Direct financial assistance covering household bills, travel expenses to and from hospitals, funeral expenses, and more
  • Material support such as food, clothing, and essential household items
  • Emotional support services for the entire family
  • Signature events like the Spring Party at the Boardwalk and the annual Christmas Party
  • The “Making Dreams Come True” program
  • Birthday Brigade celebrations
  • Home repairs, outings, advocacy initiatives, and individualized support based on each family’s needs

“This event will strengthen our ability to bring much-needed resources and assistance to the many children and their families who are facing the horrific disease of pediatric cancer,” Vermeulen added.

All proceeds from Chefs Who Care go directly toward sustaining and expanding these vital programs.

Culinary Community Steps Up

Among the chefs participating are leaders from some of the region’s most respected restaurants, including 87 Sussex in Jersey City’s Paulus Hook neighborhood.

Brian Walter of 87 Sussex emphasized the importance of chefs using their platforms for impact. “As chefs and hospitality professionals, we have the ability to bring people together,” Walter said. “When we can combine great food with a meaningful cause like The Ashley Lauren Foundation, it reminds us why we do what we do. Supporting children and families facing pediatric cancer is something our entire team is proud to stand behind.”

Walter’s sentiment reflects the spirit of the evening—a shared commitment from the culinary community to give back in a tangible way.

The event is co-chaired by NYC photographer Eric Vitale—son of Founder Monica Vermeulen—and culinary influencer Gennaro Pecchia. Their leadership continues to expand the event’s reach, drawing notable chefs, influencers, and supporters from across the tri-state area.
