Slice Slice Baby: Hoboken Pizza Fest 2018

Abby Montanez

What makes a good pizza? Some will say it’s the perfect ratio of sauce to cheese, the crispiness of the crust, the balance of toppings or even the type of water that’s used. We have Bartstool’s Dave Portnoy to thank for rating pizzerias near and far but this weekend, it’s our time to do the tasting.

This Saturday, the 2nd Annual Hoboken Pizza Fest will kick off at Our Lady of Grace Church. The ticket ($25 per person) gets you half a slice of pizza from every participating venue, free ice cream from Ben & Jerry’s, live music, pizza-themed games, contests, free prizes and giveaways. There is booze, too, so don’t worry. It’s $5 for a glass of red or white wine, $5 for beers or $20 for open bar access—pretty much a steal.

Session 1 kicks of at noon to 2 p.m. and Session 2 runs from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. If you’re wondering if your favorite shops will be there, here’s who we know is participating for sure: Dozzino, Hot House, Tone Boloney’s, Napoli’s, The Brick Fire Baked Pizza, O’Bagel (Session 2 only), Frankie & Ava’s Italian Eatery (Session 1 only) and Pizza Vita (Session 1 only).

Sponsored by Hoboken Happy Hours, a portion of all the proceeds from Hoboken Pizza Fest go towards benefitting TRUE Mentors—a non-profit organization that pairs children ages 7-17 with adult mentors from the same neighborhood.
