Wine Not? – Toasting to National Drink Wine Day

If you’re looking for an excuse to go out and grab a drink (not that you need one), or just want to pop open a bottle at home, then may we suggest participating in National Drink Wine Day. (And by suggest, we mean insist). Aside from just socializing and unwinding, there are many qualities our beverage of choice has to offer, such as health benefits that include longevity and reduced risk of heart attack, stroke, and type 2 diabetes. And since this so-called holiday falls on a Thursday, it’ll be just what you need to get you through the week. So whether you’re planning a night in or out, read on to see where locally you can grab a glass (or bottle) and toast to National Drink Wine Day:

National Drink Wine Day

Bareli’s – Secaucus
With a densely packed wine list, Bareli’s restaurant has an in house wine cellar which is fully stocked with over 4,000 award winning selections. If you find yourself looking for a bite to eat, they are also known for their Italian cuisine, serving classic dishes with a creative twist such as, black spaghetti lobster fra diavolo. Make sure to also check out their happy hour, known as “elegant hour”, Tuesday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Sorellina – Hoboken
Brand new to Hoboken, Sorellina is not only serving up Italian classics, but is providing us with a strictly Italian wine bar. Dishing out authentic, regional Italian wines and homemade pasta are just some of what makes Sorellina the real deal. Owner, Gabi Lombardi, is also a certified sommelier. So if you’re eager to see what they’ve got, their Chianti Classico is already a well-known favorite.

Third & Vine – Jersey City
Having recently celebrated their two year anniversary, Third & Vine is the place to get your wine fix and to satisfy those comfort food cravings. Specializing in wine, cheese, and small plates, they offer menu items such as mac and cheese, deviled eggs, braised pork belly, and a selection of over thirty different cheeses that change daily. Their eclectic wine (and cocktail) menu is also frequently changing, including wines that are both domestic and international.

Aumm Aumm – North Bergen
With over 150 bottles to choose from, picking a wine that suits both you and your meal shouldn’t be a problem. At Aumm Aumm, they are pairing perhaps everyone’s two favorite menu items, pizza and wine. Keeping true to their Neapolitan roots, the food is traditional and fresh, using only ingredients only from the Naples region, while their wine list, a little more daring, explores flavors from all over the world.
