The annual New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning is scheduled to return in 2022 for its 39th season. As the largest summertime hot air balloon festival in North America, spectators can marvel at the 100-plus hot air balloons from around the world expected to take flight.
Where can I watch the balloon festival in NJ?
Balloons will rise over Solberg Airport in Readington, NJ, dotting the Central Jersey countryside with a colorful display. The three-day festival will kick off on July 29, 2022, and run through the weekend, ending on July 31, 2022. Balloons are scheduled to take flight twice each day.
On Friday, the festival will kick off at 1 p.m. with a single balloon accession scheduled for 6:30 p.m. On Saturday and Sunday, the gates will open as early as 6 a.m. with two ascensions scheduled for 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m.

Want to experience the New Jersey Festival Ballooning as more than just an onlooker? Goers have the option to take a ride on one of the 100-plus balloons that will be taking to the skies. (Prices for balloon rides can be found here.)
In addition, the three-day festival will present a live concert series featuring the likes of Todd Rundgren, rock band Kansas, Collective Soul and children’s recording artist Laurie Berkner. There are nighttime glows, fireworks, amusements rides, a 5K run and other forms of family entertainment. A variety of crafters, exhibits and food vendors will be spread across Solberg Airports’ 744 acres.
How much does it cost to attend the New Jersey Lottery Festival of Ballooning?
General admission tickets start at $10 to $15 for children ages four through 12. Children three years of age and younger are free. Adult tickets range from $24 to $40. Tickets can be purchased online for a reduced fee or at the on-site box office. All general admission tickets include lawn seating for concert attendees. There are also VIP ticketing options available which cost between $35 and $90.
