Veteran Chef Joins Ani Ramen House in Jersey City

The Ani Ramen House, a popular restaurant that embraces the tradition of hand-rolled noodle ramen, has welcomed Chef Chris Arturo to join their team with open arms. Chef Arturo will be running kitchen operations at their newest location on 218 Newark Avenue in Jersey City, which will be open for business in mid-December. The addition of Arturo serves to no doubt strengthen the restaurant’s growing and talented staff.

Arturo himself began his culinary career in 2009, after attending the French Culinary Institute in New York City (now known as ICC). He gained his affinity for Asian cuisine after his first gig with longtime Jean-Georges veteran, Chef Josh “Shorty” Eden at Shorty’s .32 in New York. In 2010, Chef Arturo started cooking for many noteworthy restaurants in New Jersey including, Passione, Pig & Prince, Upstairs and Villalobos. In addition, Chef Arturo ran his own ramen restaurant called Ronin Ramen in Montclair. He sharpened his culinary skills and grew an admiration for farms, livestock, butchery and charcuterie. Arturo will now be working alongside Julian Valencia, Ani Ramen’s Chef/Partner in the upcoming Winter season.

The Jersey City spot will seat more than 100 guests in the 2,000-square-foot space. It will also include a private outdoor courtyard with a bar that serves craft cocktails and sake bombs. Whether you visit Ani Ramen House with friends, family or alone, the staff is on a mission to offer patrons a relaxed and comfortable experience with great food. Ani Ramen House comes together as a modern interpretation of their favorite Tokyo experiences right here in Jersey City (and Montclair). With the addition of Chef Arturo, the team is looking forward to what the future has in store, and while they’ll certainly continue what they started, they’re pleased to welcome a new rush of energy.
