Halloween is just around the corner (literally), and you may be wondering, “Where are the best places to celebrate Halloween in New Jersey?” Well, a new study from WalletHub has us covered. They recently ranked the 100 largest U.S. cities to find the best spots for Halloween, and two New Jersey cities made it into the top 10. These rankings were based on weather, trick-or-treater friendliness, and spooky fun. Here are the two best cities in New Jersey to celebrate Halloween.

Jersey City came in second place and ranked number one for trick-or-treater friendliness. This city has one of the highest population densities and the third best walkability score in the country. It’s easy for kids to move from house to house without long trips, so it’s great for trick-or-treaters. Jersey City is also very safe, it has some of the lowest violent crime and property crime rates in the country, and even one of the lowest pedestrian fatality rates. Parents and kids can feel safe trick-or-treating here.

But it’s not just the streets that make Jersey City a top Halloween spot. The city has a strong entertainment scene with lots of movie theaters. Instead of just knocking on people’s doors for some Reese’s Pieces, you can watch a scary film to get in the Halloween spirit. But if movies are not your thing, there are also many haunted attractions, spooky events, and even pop-ups around the area.

Newark came in tenth place overall and ranked fifth in the nation for trick-or-treater friendliness. While Newark sometimes gets a bad rap, it’s full of fun and safe Halloween activities. The city has something for everyone, from downtown Halloween events to neighborhood trunk-or-treats. They even have haunted houses, seasonal markets, and community celebrations. The streets and neighborhoods are safe, so kids and adults can enjoy a fun and exciting Halloween without having to worry. And for anyone wondering about candy, there’s one kind that’s super popular in New Jersey this year.
