The Borough of Hightstown has applied to join the New Jersey Film Ready Program, a state initiative designed to attract film and television productions to local communities.
The program, led by the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission, certifies municipalities as “film ready” by ensuring they have the infrastructure, public records, and location information required for media productions according to WPST. Once certified, Hightstown will be listed in a statewide database accessible to industry professionals scouting for filming locations.
As part of the application, officials have documented various public sites throughout the borough for inclusion. The town is also asking residents and business owners to submit photos of their private properties for potential use in future productions.
Participation in the program is voluntary and free. If a certified town is selected for a project, producers will reach out directly to property owners. Homeowners can register here.
Hightstown features a traditional downtown area with shops, restaurants, and historic charm.
The application is still under review. If approved, Hightstown could soon appear as the backdrop for commercials, series, or feature films.
