Two New Jersey downtowns have been recognized as among the most walkable in the nation, according to a new ranking from Assisted Living Magazine.

Broad Street in Red Bank was ranked 29th on the outlet’s list of the 100 Best Main Streets in the U.S. to Walk. The area was noted for its riverside paths, colorful planters, and pedestrian-friendly design.

The downtown is home to several retail and cultural landmarks, including the Count Basie Center for the Arts and the Molly Pitcher Inn, a boutique hotel on the Navesink River.

The list also included Main Street in Lambertville, which placed 61st. Situated along the Delaware River, the town offers a walkable core lined with antique stores and art galleries. A pedestrian bridge connects it to neighboring New Hope, Pennsylvania, while the Delaware and Raritan Canal towpath offers extended walking routes.

Both towns are known for seasonal events and year-round walkability, drawing visitors with their mix of shops, food, and scenic views.

The magazine compiled its list based on input from more than 3,000 respondents across the country.
