If you’re looking for a way to squeeze a little more fun out of summer before September arrives, head to Mount Olive this weekend for an evening that brings together some of our favorite summer things: food trucks, live music, local vendors and fireworks to top it all off.
The Mount Olive Food Truck & Fireworks Festival returns on Saturday, August 29, from 4 to 10 p.m. at Turkey Brook Park in Budd Lake.
And our first piece of advice? Come hungry.
Food Trucks Galore
Food is definitely one of the stars of this festival, with more than 18 food trucks expected to serve up everything from savory favorites to something sweet for dessert.
Part of the fun of a food truck festival is going with a group and sampling a little bit of everything. Grab dinner from one truck, share something from another and save room for dessert.
Beyond the food, visitors can browse local vendors, enjoy live music and grab a cold beer from Jersey Girl Brewing while spending a late August evening outside.
Bring the Kids
This isn’t just an event for the foodies.
There will also be inflatables for the kids, making it an easy outing for families looking for something everyone can enjoy. And there’s a nice bonus for families: children 12 and younger get into the festival for free. Admission is:
- Ages 18+: $10
- Ages 13-17: $5
- Ages 12 and under: FREE

Stay for the Fireworks
Once you’ve made your way through the food trucks and enjoyed the entertainment, find a spot on the lawn and settle in for the finale.
Fireworks are scheduled for approximately 9:00 p.m.
Bring a blanket or lawn chairs so you can relax and make an evening of it. With the festival running until 10 p.m., there’s plenty of time to arrive for dinner, wander through the vendors, let the kids play and then claim your spot for the fireworks.
We love events that bring people together while giving local food vendors and small businesses a chance to get in front of a big community crowd. Add live music, activities for the kids and a fireworks finale, and Mount Olive has put together a pretty great way to celebrate one of the final weekends of August.
