New Veterans Housing Complex Opens in Jersey City

Earlier this month, NJ-based land-use consultancy Dresdner Robin unveiled Jersey City’s most recent development, a veterans’ housing complex located at 526 Ocean Ave. The 21,700-square-foot complex officially opened on Nov. 30, 2021, as a low-to-moderate income housing site that includes 20 units reserved for U.S. veterans.

The four-story development had been approved back in 2017 along with its 1,500-square-foot ground-floor commercial space designated for social support services. Jersey City Redevelopment Agency previously purchased the property in 2016 for $1 from Jersey City. Not long after, local firm Tantum Real Estate received an Affordable Housing Trust Fund contact that afforded them the funding for developing affording housing in the state.

It’s been a pleasure to work with Dresdner Robin throughout the development of this project,” founder of Tantum Real Estate, Debra Tantleff, said last week. “It’s very gratifying to work with companies like theirs, who not only care about their craft but also the communities that they work in.

Tantum Real Estate currently partners with organizations that aim to support veteran programs, including Collaborative Support Programs of New Jersey, a group that focuses on peer-led not-for-profit organizations–resources are meant to offer community-based services centered around wellness and recovery.

This is an excellent addition to the city, and it’s fulfilling to have the opportunity to provide our services on a project like this,” said Dresdner Robin’s Mark Vizzini, the associated director of land development and project manager. “The facility’s amenities will go far beyond just housing. It will provide counseling and support to our local veterans, and strengthen the Jersey City community as a whole.

Currently, Dresdner Robin is a leading land-use consultancy in New Jersey that also works in the New York City and Philadelphia markets. Dresdner Robin focuses on innovations in technology site engineering, land surveying, environmental services, planning, surveying and landscape architecture in urban landscapes.
