NJ Transit has launched a new express shuttle connecting Vineland to Atlantic City. The service is designed to give Cumberland County residents a direct route to employment opportunities in Atlantic City, including casino jobs, while easing congestion and improving regional transit. It comes after Governor Murphy announced expanded transit plans for the southern portion of the state last month.

The shuttle runs year-round with two round trips each day, Monday through Friday. Departures from the Vineland Transportation Center are set for 5:35 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Buses leave the Atlantic City Bus Terminal at 7:45 a.m. and 3:45 p.m., returning to Vineland by 8:50 a.m. and 4:50 p.m.

The schedule is meant to align with local employer shifts, allowing a single bus to handle both trips efficiently for a majority of residents.

Shuttle riders can transfer to NJ Transit and Atlantic City services for connections to casino locations within Atlantic City. The service accommodates up to 40 passengers daily. Fares are $6 per one-way trip, with a reduced rate of $3 for seniors, individuals with disabilities,or those facing financial constraints. Monthly NJ Transit eight-zone bus passes are accepted.

All buses feature lifts for accessible boarding. Service animals and portable oxygen tanks are allowed. The pilot is funded through NJ Transit community mobility programs, the New Jersey Job Access and Reverse Commute initiative and other grants.

Officials say the shuttle is intended to remove barriers to employment and test new transit approaches in South Jersey. If successful, the program could expand and serve as a model for other areas in the state. The southern half of the state has long been underserved by NJ Transit. This could be the first step in a broader effort to expand South Jersey transit.
