The 98th Academy Awards are coming up on Sunday, March 15 and the Garden State once again takes center stage. These 2026 Oscar-nominated pictures were filmed right here in New Jersey.
Marty Supreme
Based on the true story of Marty Reisman’s life, Timothée Chalamet stars as table tennis player Marty Mauser, who races through ambition with unexpected turns, all while chasing his dream of becoming world champion.
Scenes were shot in the Meadowlands Arena in East Rutherford, a private home in Chesterfield Township, the Hopewell Borough Post Office and 126 Market St. in Paterson.

The production worked at The Ritz Theatre in Elizabeth, NJ as well, where Chalamet also filmed his Bob Dylan biopic “A Complete Unknown” in 2024.
“Marty Supreme” spent $12 million in New Jersey and earned a $4.2 million tax credit, the state Economic Development Authority told NJ Advance Media, as well as being one of A24’s biggest spends with its $70 million budget.
The table tennis film earned nine Oscar nominations: Best Picture, Director (Josh Safdie), Actor (Chalamet), Original Screenplay (Safdie and Ronald Bronstein), Casting, Cinematography, Costume Design, Film Editing and Production Design.
“Marty Supreme” is still available to see in select theaters, or can be purchased online starting at $19.99.
Song Sung Blue
From “Footloose” director Craig Brewer, “Song Sung Blue” follows Hugh Jackman and Kate Hudson as a married couple in a Neil Diamond tribute act during their tribulations of pursuing fame.
Brewer’s production was filmed across seven counties in the Garden State, as well as parts of New York City.
Bergen and Hudson County included one filming location each: a private home in Old Tappan and the Ukrainian National Home in Jersey City.

As for Essex County, viewers can spot the Ukrainian Community Center in Irvington and the Women’s Club of Glen Ridge. Charm Thai Cuisine and Tierney’s Tavern from Montclair can be seen during the film as well.
From Monmouth County, the Keansburg Amusement Park, which acted as the Wisconsin State Fair, was an important filming location. With the Stillwell Auto Garage in Matawan also making an appearance.
St. Elizabeth University’s Florham Park campus was portrayed as Northwest Catholic School in Milwaukee. Denville Dog & Grill appears as another Morris County location.
In Passaic County, “Song Sung Blue” featured the Scillieri-Arnold Funeral Home in Paterson, St. Joseph’s Wayne Medical Center and Wayne Elks Lodge as a casino and the Milwaukee Community Center.
Similar to “Marty Supreme,” The Ritz Theatre was used as a filming location for “Song Sung Blue.” Two other locations in Union County can be spotted as well, the Blue Ridge Shopping Plaza and Crossroads bar in Garwood.
The production spent around $29.5 million in New Jersey and received a $10.2 million tax credit, the state Economic Development Authority told NJ Advance Media.
Kate Hudson earned a Best Actress nomination for her role as Claire Cartwright in “Song Sung Blue,” which is currently streaming on Peacock and Amazon Prime Video.
