Mass Shooting Inside Union, NJ Chick-fil-A—Investigation Ongoing

A shooting broke out inside the Chick-fil-A on Route 22 in Union, New Jersey just before 9 p.m. Saturday night, leaving multiple people injured and triggering a large law enforcement response that has kept the restaurant locked down for hours.

According to reports from WABC and CBS News, a group of masked men forced their way into the restaurant, went behind the food counter, and opened fire. A man who told CBS News his girlfriend works at the location said the men charged in and shot multiple times after pushing past the counter. Some workers are reportedly still being held inside the restaurant as Union County police continue their investigation.

The Union County Prosecutor’s Office is handling the investigation. As of this writing, authorities have not released any details about the number of people shot, their conditions, or whether there are any fatalities. The circumstances surrounding the shooting remain unknown and part of an active investigation.

A large police presence remains at the scene. Officers have canvassed the parking lot and sealed off the surrounding area. The Chick-fil-A remains locked down.
