Crane Collapses Onto Hamilton Township Home During Delivery

Scary scenes in Hamilton Township on Tuesday when a 30-ton crane came crashing down onto a home. The collapse came whole workers were delivering a hot tub to the home’s backyard.

It all went down around 12:30 p.m. on the residential, Mercer County street. According to those at the scene, the crane’s boom buckled, sending part of the machinery onto the roof, leaving the cab dangling in the air.

Police, firefighters and management crews were quick to respond, rushing to the scene immediately to prevent further damages. Two additional cranes were brought in to stabilize and remove fallen equipment. Thankfully, no one was hurt.

The home suffered heavy damage to the roof, but crews quikly worked to cover any exposed area ahead of expected rainfall. As a safety measure, utilities were temporarily shut off.

Investigators are still working to determine what exactly caused the collapse. Witnesses at the scene stated that the crane appeared to lose balance as the crew tried to lower the hot tub into place.

Accoridng to neighbors, the crash was loud enough to send people running outside. Once the scene is cleared, engineers will inspect the home to assess the full breadth of damage.

Officials noted that the chaotic scene was tamed by a quick response from officers, avoiding a potentially worse situation.
