Multiple people were injured Saturday when a woman drove her car into a crowd of protesters demonstrating against U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).

Fairview police said 62-year-old Linda Roglen of North Bergen faces multiple charges, including assault by auto resulting in injury and leaving the scene of an accident.

The incident began when Roglen and a protester began arguing. Witnesses said the protester spit on Roglen before she decided to drive into the group of people.

“I was scared though, honestly, like for those people,” one bystander told Eyewitness News.

Three protesters were reportedly struck, according to police. All suffered injuries described as non-life threatening. Videos of the incident have circulated online.

Protest organizer Julio Torres said he urged the protester to walk away after hearing Roglen say “I love ICE.” Torres added that while spitting on someone is wrong, the driver’s response was far more dangerous.

The protest was part of a larger demonstration against federal immigration policies, which have swept through parts of the country during President Donald Trump’s second term.

The incident remains under investigation.
