A local funeral home in Bergen County is seeking the public’s help to locate the relatives of a 92-year-old woman who died alone in a nursing home last month.
Carmela Polimeni passed away at a nursing home in Leonia, New Jersey, in July. Since her death, Eternity Funeral Services in Englewood has been unable to locate any family members to claim her remains. Polimeni’s body has been in the care of the funeral home as staff continue efforts to find her next of kin.
Eternity Funeral Services has reached out to the community and local authorities in hopes of identifying any surviving relatives. Despite the outreach, the search has yet to yield any results. Without a family member to claim her, Polimeni’s final arrangements remain in limbo.
Polimeni’s situation has drawn attention to the challenges faced by individuals who die without known family. The funeral home is urging anyone with information about Polimeni or her family to come forward.
Local officials have noted that cases like Polimeni’s highlight the importance of community involvement in ensuring that elderly individuals are not forgotten in death. The search for her family continues.
This is an ongoing story. We will provide necessary updates when we have them.
