A 22-year-old New Jersey man is facing an attempted murder charge following a violent altercation at an LA Fitness in Clark. According to authorities, Antonio Lampon, from Scotch Plains, allegedly used a box cutter to slash an acquaintance in the throat during the attack, which took place around 4 p.m. on a Sunday afternoon at the gym on Raritan Road.
The victim, whose identity has not been released, was promptly transported to a local hospital for treatment. After receiving medical attention, he was discharged later that day, although officials have not provided further details on the extent of his injuries.

Lampon fled the scene immediately after the assault, triggering a search that culminated in his arrest the following day on September 9. In addition to attempted murder, Lampon has been charged with several other offenses, including aggravated assault, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes. He also faces a fourth-degree charge related to restrictions on certain individuals owning weapons.
Police have yet to disclose what led to the confrontation between Lampon and the victim. Following his arrest, Lampon was booked into the Union County Jail, where he is being held as he awaits a detention hearing. No information about his legal representation has been made available at this time.
