NJ authorities arrested 18 people and seized over 8 kilograms of cocaine in a drug trafficking investigation that stretched from Puerto Rico to South Jersey, officials said Monday.
The two-month probe linked cocaine suppliers in Puerto Rico to dealers in Salem City and Mount Holly, NJ. Prosecutors said the network planned to move drugs up the East Coast from New Jersey to Massachusetts.
The operation marked the largest narcotics seizure in Salem County history, according to the prosecutor’s office.
Fourteen of those charged are New Jersey residents, with others from Puerto Rico and Connecticut. Charges include first- and second-degree drug and related offenses.
The investigation involved the Salem County Prosecutor’s Office, FBI, Homeland Security Investigations, and other law enforcement agencies across federal, state, and local levels.
Authorities said the arrests disrupted a primary supply chain of cocaine running through Salem County.
