New Jersey drivers will soon be able to use their E-ZPass to pay for parking and gas. In a press release posted July 30, the E-ZPass Interagency Group announced the expansion of their Non-Toll Mobile Payment Program in partnership with PayByCar across the 19 states that use E-ZPass.
What States Use E-ZPass?
The 19 states in the E-ZPass network are Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Virginia, and West Virginia.
The expansion of the “Driven by E-ZPass” non-toll payment program will provide a convenient mobile payment option to nearly 55 million E-ZPass-equipped vehicles across North America. PayByCar will roll out the service to hundreds of gas stations over the next two years.
PayByCar allows customers with an E-ZPass transponder to make contactless payments for gas and off-street parking—no need to fuss with dirty pump screens, cash, cards, or apps!
“We are also drivers, so we know how frustrating it can be to download multiple apps and wallets, manage paper receipts, lose tickets in parking garages, or risk identity theft from transactions where card skimming results in millions of dollars in losses each year,” said Kevin Condon, CEO of PayByCar.
Simply drive into a participating location, and PayByCar will recognize your vehicle upon arrival. You’ll receive a text to confirm your arrival, and then you’ll get a digital receipt.
At participating parking facilities, the gate opens automatically without a paper ticket. Members can also receive text reminders, such as links to check flight status at airport parking facilities. When you exit, the gate opens automatically, and a digital receipt is sent to your phone.
This is the future of in-vehicle payments. Pay directly from your car with your E-ZPass slapped on the windshield for a seamless and convenient experience. Plus, there’s no cost to participate in the program.
