NJ Train Fatally Strikes Man Near Middletown

Early Tuesday morning, a man was fatally struck by a train near Middletown.

Daily Voice reported that a passenger train hit a trespasser west of Middletown, NJ. The incident has since caused delays, suspending services in both directions for the line.

The NJ Transit passenger train departed from New York Penn Station at 7:44 a.m. heading to Long Branch, NJ. Approximately 50 passengers and crew were on board when it struck the victim at 9:06 a.m. None of those on board reported any injuries.

NJ Transit Police lead the investigation.

Transit services between Matawan and Long Branch have since been suspended. This story is developing.
