FORT LEE, N.J.  — A NJ woman was fatally shot by police in Fort Lee, New Jersey, on Sunday. Authorities responded to reports of a person in distress at a high-rise apartment building.

Officers encountered a 41-year-old woman who allegedly threatened them with a knife. Attempts to de-escalate the situation were unsuccessful. The woman was shot and pronounced dead at the scene.

The incident is under investigation by the Bergen County Prosecutor’s Office. The identities of the woman and the officers involved have not been released.
