A private jet that departed from New Jersey’s Teterboro Airport turned a quiet San Diego neighborhood into a fiery disaster zone early Thursday morning after it crash-landed and ignited more than a dozen homes.

Dramatic video from the scene reveals burned-out cars, shattered glass, and jagged fragments of blue and white debris littering the area. Residents were forced to evacuate as flames tore through the community.

The aircraft, identified as a Cessna 550, went down just before 4 a.m. near Montgomery-Gibbs Executive Airport. While it’s still unclear how many passengers were aboard, the FAA confirmed the jet typically accommodates six to eight people.

Multiple people on board a private plane that crashed into a San Diego neighborhood are dead, authorities confirmed—though the exact number of fatalities has yet to be released.

Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy said investigators are working to determine whether the aircraft struck power lines during its descent. Fortunately, no one on the ground was injured.

The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) has taken over the investigation, with the FAA assisting in determining what caused the jet to go down.

This crash follows a tragic 2021 incident where another small aircraft crashed in a San Diego suburb, killing both the pilot and a UPS driver while engulfing nearby homes in flames.

As authorities piece together what happened, the neighborhood remains on edge, still reeling from the overnight chaos caused by the unexpected disaster from above.
