Authorities in Secaucus say they’re closing in on dozens of drivers and spectators after a wild street takeover involving about 100 vehicles brought chaos to a major intersection over the weekend.

The takeover happened early Sunday at Secaucus Road and County Avenue, near the local MVC inspection station. Police released video of the scene, showing cars blocking the intersection, fireworks exploding, and people climbing onto law enforcement vehicles as officers arrived.

Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller urged suspects to turn themselves in.

Investigators believe the event was organized through social media and drew people from both in and out of state. While officers weren’t physically assaulted, fireworks were reportedly shot near and under police cruisers, escalating tensions.

The department has collected videos, witness accounts, and other tips, and says numerous participants have already been identified. Charges are expected soon, ranging from disorderly persons offenses to violations of motor vehicle laws.

Police emphasized that anyone who took part—whether behind the wheel or in the crowd—could face charges.
