A senior prank spiraled out of control at a New Jersey high school this week, resulting in significant disruption and a full-day closure of the school due to the extensive mess left behind.

At South River High School in Middlesex County, students took their end-of-year prank to extreme levels. Furniture was dragged out of classrooms, the gymnasium was stripped of its equipment, and toilet paper lined the corridors, leaving a scene that resembled a ransacked movie set more than a functioning school building, according to WABC.

“Nothing was broken. Nothing was stolen. But tables were moved, desks were moved out of classrooms, equipment was moved out of the gym,” South River Mayor Peter Guindi said in an interview with WABC.

“Listen, we were all kids at one time, I mean, we have all done our share of mischief. This kind of went too far,” the mayor added.

Administrators initially planned a delayed start to the school day but ultimately canceled classes altogether, labeling the incident as “criminal mischief.” Officials have since launched an investigation, with the South River Police Department now looking into those responsible for the overblown stunt.

South River High is expected to resume its regular schedule on Friday.

The school district has not yet confirmed whether any disciplinary measures are being considered for the students involved.

This incident comes just weeks after a brawl erupted at Woodbridge Mall involving teens who planned the meet via TikTok.
