BERNARDSVILLE, N.J. — Five people were injured Wednesday morning when a tanker truck overturned and crushed two vehicles in Bernardsville, authorities said.
The incident occurred around 8:30 a.m. on Anderson Hill Road near Seney Drive. The tanker, carrying gasoline, reportedly stalled while attempting to ascend a hill and drifted backward, colliding with two cars behind it, officials said.
Emergency responders worked to free trapped victims from the vehicles. At least one person was airlifted to a hospital by medevac, according to local reports.
Police said the tanker, which was not fully loaded, caused only minimal fuel leakage. The area remains closed to traffic as crews continue their work.
Commuters are advised to avoid the scene as the investigation is ongoing.
