In recent months, the presence of drones buzzing over New Jersey has stirred curiosity and speculation. On Tuesday, the White House clarified that many of these flights had been approved by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Reports of multiple drones operating simultaneously or near sensitive infrastructure fueled numerous theories across the state. President Donald Trump had vowed to investigate the matter, and White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that a significant number of these drone operations were sanctioned for research purposes.

“This isn’t a case of hostile activity,” Leavitt assured reporters.

Interestingly, one of the areas where drone flight restrictions were enforced includes Trump’s Bedminster golf club. Previously, Trump speculated that the Biden administration might have more insight into the unusual drone activity than they were revealing.

Leavitt explained that Trump had recently updated her on the situation during a conversation in the Oval Office.

“Following extensive review, it’s been confirmed that many of the drones spotted over New Jersey were authorized by the FAA for research and other legitimate purposes,” she stated.

Leavitt also mentioned that some of the drones belonged to hobbyists and private enthusiasts who enjoy recreational flying.

Investigations into the sightings began more than two months ago, involving multiple federal agencies as they examined reports of drones near critical locations in the Garden State.

As of now, the FAA’s flight restrictions over Trump’s Somerset County golf club remain active and are set to expire on January 31.
