Unclaimed $1 Billion Mega Millions Ticket in NJ: Winner Has Six Months Left to Claim Prize

by Staff

A Mega Millions ticket worth over $1 billion, sold six months ago in New Jersey, has yet to be claimed.

The ticket, sold at ShopRite Liquor on Route 66 in Neptune Township on March 26, remains unredeemed. The New Jersey Lottery issued a reminder that the winner has until March 26, 2025, to claim their prize before it is forfeited.

The winning numbers for the drawing were 07, 11, 22, 29, 38, with the Gold Mega Ball number 04 and a 2x multiplier. Despite the jackpot’s immense size, locals at the Neptune store expressed surprise that no one has stepped forward.

Lottery officials say it’s not uncommon for winners of large sums to take time before claiming their prize, but they are urging this winner to act quickly.

“It’s unusual for such a large prize to go unclaimed for this long, and we’ve had no communication from the ticket holder,” said James Carey, the New Jersey Lottery’s Executive Director. “We want to make sure people know the prize is still waiting.”

Winners in New Jersey can choose to remain anonymous, but they must notify the lottery to initiate the process.

“We always advise winners of big prizes like Mega Millions to consult financial and legal experts before claiming,” Carey added.

If the ticket remains unclaimed by the March 2025 deadline, the prize will be distributed among the participating states, with New Jersey set to receive $27 million.
