Surfers jumped into action to assist a man struggling in the rough waters off Avalon, New Jersey.
On October 20, a fisherman was swept off a jetty by a powerful wave, leaving him battling against the current. Fortunately, surfers participating in a nearby competition noticed his distress and immediately rushed to his aid.
One of the rescuers, 18-year-old nursing student Cooper Lysinger, played a key role in the effort. With help from the other surfers, the fisherman was placed on Lysinger’s board and safely brought back to shore.
Thanks to the surfers’ swift response and teamwork, the fisherman escaped without injury.
