A fast-moving wildfire has scorched 90 acres in Passaic County, with firefighters working through the week to keep the flames under control in West Milford Township.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has named the blaze the Buckabear Wildfire. As of Wednesday, officials reported it was 20 percent contained, a significant step forward from earlier updates.

Despite the fire’s size, no homes or buildings are currently at risk, and no evacuations have been ordered. Fire engines and ground crews remain on the scene to prevent the flames from spreading further.

Authorities temporarily closed Clinton Road between Goldfinch Lane and Van Orden Road to allow firefighting operations to continue safely.

Residents nearby, especially those with asthma or other respiratory issues, are being urged to stay indoors, keep windows shut, and avoid prolonged exposure to the smoke. The cause of the wildfire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation until further notice.
