5 Tips for the 4th

Why you should celebrate Independence Day in Hoboken

If you’re planning on spending July 4, 2013 in Hoboken, we’ve come up with a few tips that can make your holiday much more enjoyable (and easier).

1. Best View: Pier 13 is located directly across the barge on the Hudson where the fireworks are launched, literally giving you the best possible view. If you’re lucky, some ashes may even fall on your head (depending on your definition of lucky). You can also grab some pretty delicious frozen drinks to make your fireworks watching that much better.

2. Best Method of Travel: Train. Do not drive unless you want to be stuck in four hours of traffic. The Path and Hudson-Bergen Light Rail are running extra trains to help decongest the number of people coming in and out of Hoboken.

3. Best Kept Secret/ Alternate Awesome Views: The highest point in Hoboken is at Steven’s Institute of Technology. If you’re looking for a high altitude place to watch the sky explosions, definitely check out SIT. If you want to avoid crowds altogether, take a seat on your own roof. (Not sure if it’s entirely legal, or legal for us to tell you to do that.)

4. Best Quick Bite: Dark Side of The Moo is a great BBQ hot spot on wheels. Look for it along the waterfront near Pier 13. https://twitter.com/themoofoodtruck

5. Best Happy Hours:

-Pilsener Haus is a little off the beaten path but the perfect place to grab an early brunch and enjoy $5 Pilsener Haus Originals all day! http://pilsenerhaus.com/

-City Bistro is another great 4th of July option. Their rooftop opens at 2 p.m. and their Happy Hour runs all night long with $3 Coronas and Corona Lights. http://citybistrohoboken.com/
