Livingston Just Got Its Most Ambitious Residential Complex: Inside Canterly Place

Canterly Place opened in January with a concierge, a golf simulator, a resort pool, and apartments that make “luxury living” actually mean something for once.

Livingston has always been one of those Essex County towns that doesn’t need to prove anything. Good schools, easy commute, the kind of suburban infrastructure that people move to New Jersey for in the first place. What it hasn’t had—until now—is a residential complex that matches that reputation for amenities. Canterly Place, which held its grand opening on June 9th at 51 Okner Parkway, is making a strong case that the gap has been filled.

Canterly Place is tucked into one of Livingston’s most well-connected neighborhoods—teeming with modern amenities, gorgeous rooms, workspaces, a resort-style pool and common areas that put community at the forefront.

It’s proof that apartment living doesn’t have to be a compromise. And New Jersey is still the place to be.

The Residences

Four layouts: one bedroom, one bedroom with a den, two bedrooms, and three bedrooms. What matters is that every one of them is finished to the same standard.

Hardwood-style floors set the tone—warm, clean, and built to last. Oversized windows do the heavy lifting, pulling light into every corner and making the rooms feel bigger than their square footage suggests (that’s our kind of space). The one-bedroom with a den is the standout configuration. That extra room becomes a guest room, a home office, a reading nook—whatever the moment calls for. In a world where more people are working from home, it’s the home office that sells the space.

The kitchens are not an afterthought. These are spaces you actually want to cook in. Sleek white marble countertops, a double-door fridge, a full gas range, and ample cabinet space set it apart.

The Amenities Are the Story at Canterly Place

This is where Canterly Place separates itself from every other “luxury” building. The amenity list here reads like someone sat down and asked what residents actually care about, rather than what looks good on a brochure.

Full-service fitness center with a separate yoga room. Co-working lounge for the days the home office stops working. Library lounge. Clubroom with private dining for when you want to host without having to clean your apartment. What we like most about the resident clubroom is that it feels like a real room—warm, well-appointed, somewhere you’d choose to spend time rather than pass through. Game lounge with a golf simulator, sports simulator, screening area, and table games. Pet spa. Covered parking with EV charging stations. A Tulu vending machine for those pesky midnight cravings. You name it.

Then there’s the 24/7 concierge. A parcel managed, a question answered, a problem handled before it becomes one. It’s the detail that turns a well-designed building into a well-run home.

Outside—a resort-style pool, sundeck, BBQ grills, and fire pits. In Livingston. On a Tuesday. The staycation pitch writes itself. And weekend relaxation just got easier.

The Location

Livingston is one of Essex County’s most desirable townships. You’ll soon see why.

The Livingston Express Shuttle connects to South Orange Station in 15 minutes, with NJ Transit Morristown Line service into Penn Station and Hoboken. Direct bus service to the Port Authority Bus Terminal is also available, and Newark Penn Station—with Amtrak and PATH—is roughly 10 miles out. Day-to-day, more than 470 acres of wooded parks (shout-out to South Mountain Reservation), solid local dining, and strong retail mean that most of what you need is already nearby. And in the summer, the Shore is never far.

The Verdict

For young professionals, the co-working lounge, the gym, and the well-resolved apartments check every box. For couples and families, the range of layouts, the outdoor spaces, and the playground offer a community that grows with you. For those downsizing without wanting to diminish, the concierge, the pool, and the resort-style amenities deliver something genuinely elevated.

New Jersey is dense and growing, and apartments are the future for navigating it. But you don’t have to settle. Canterly Place doesn’t try to impress you. It just does. Livingston never needed a building to prove its point. Canterly Place just makes the point harder to argue with.
