Staff

Boat Bike Tours just dropped a 13-day trip that lets travelers pedal past pharaohs and cruise the Nile in the same vacation. Launching February 2026, the route strings together El Gouna’s Red Sea beaches, Nile Valley back roads, and a final sprint to the Giza pyramids. No other operator has stitched cycling and river travel like this in Egypt.

The Ride, Step by Step

Guests land in Hurghada, Egypt, and transfer to El Gouna for a 20-mile warm-up along lagoons and yacht slips. On the following day, a shuttle delivers the group to Luxor. The H/S Nebu—74 passengers, all suites—becomes home for the Nile stretch.

Daily distances stay between 13 and 30 miles on quiet asphalt lanes. Stops include Karnak at dawn, a west-bank loop to the Valley of the Kings, a Nubian village lunch, and a detour to St. Bakhamious Monastery. Aswan brings the High Dam and a motorboat run through a bird-filled reserve.

After a short flight to Cairo, the itinerary hits Coptic churches, Sakkara’s step pyramid, and a 4-mile ride across the Giza Plateau straight to the Sphinx. The Grand Egyptian Museum caps the trip with 5,000 years of artifacts under one roof.

How It Works on the Ground

E-bikes with pedal assist flatten the heat and any climbs. Egyptologists ride shotgun, dropping facts at each temple gate. A support van trails with cold drinks, spare tubes, and pickup service for anyone who wants to skip a segment. Airport pickup, visa help, and the Luxor-Cairo flight are baked into the price.

Nights split between the Nebu’s river-view cabins and upscale hotels in El Gouna and Cairo’s Mirage City. Meals run local—foul and taameya at breakfast, grilled fish on deck, fresh mangoes after rides.

Cost and Dates

$6,146 per person, double occupancy covers e-bikes, most meals, guides, and transfers. Solo travelers pay roughly $4,871 with the supplement. The first two sailings—February 5 and 19—carry early-bird discounts if booked by December 2025.

Who’s Running the Show

Boat Bike Tours has spent four decades perfecting bike-barge combos across Europe. This Egypt route is the company’s first outside the continent and the first to lean on e-bikes for a full Nile program.
