Dr. Chirag Patel Joins Blooming Smiles –
Dr. Robin Lucas is pleased to announce that pediatric dentist, Dr. Chirag Patel has joined her team and will be seeing patients at their new practice, Blooming Smiles. The new youth-focused practice, located at 200 Bloomfield Street in Hoboken, will build upon the relationships developed by Dr. Lucas over the past 15 years at Lucas Dental. “With the amount of children we see, we are extremely excited to bring on board a talented pediatric dentist,” said Dr. Lucas.
Dr. Patel, who is also a Hoboken native and Rutgers Dental School graduate, explains “Working with kids gives us the opportunity to help them develop a positive attitude towards oral hygiene, and more importantly, to teach them to take care of their teeth from an early age.” In addition to his time at Rutgers, his training includes a general practitioners residency at Staten Island University Hospital as well as his specialization in pediatric dentistry at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center in Paterson, NJ.
Dr. Patel has also had extensive training working with children with special needs, particularly during his fellowship in dental care for the developmentally disabled at Stony Brook in Long Island. While many practices decline to see children with special needs, Dr. Patel and the staff Blooming Smiles understand the importance of access to care, as well as the methods needed to help younger patients feel more comfortable during their visits. “A lot of times with pediatric dentistry it becomes more about behavior management,” explained Dr. Patel. His interests also include ongoing participation in Give Kids a Smile, a nationwide program that comes to schools once a year to provide limited dental work free of charge.
Dr. Patel joins a knowledgeable staff that looks to foster that special relationship with the neighborhood kids that has been developed by Dr. Lucas. The new practice at Blooming Smiles is located at 232 Bloomfield St. in Hoboken.
